Citation Index for Emerging Sources (ESCI)

While the selection process is in progress, a new type of list is created in which journals that applied for SCIE are listed first. This list also includes locally significant papers. Thomson Reuters, on the other hand, does not index papers and does not assign an impact factor to certain publications. In late 2015, Thomson Reuters added the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) to Web of Science as a new database. Around 3,000 journals were selected for coverage at the time of launch, covering a broad range of subject areas. Reports from ESCI indexed journals will be used to measure an author’s h-index. The index has been generated by Clarivate Analytics since 2017. By including high-quality, peer-reviewed articles in the Emerging Sources Citation Index, Web of Science publications will reach a wider audience.
